Over the past month I've been working with the Plymouth University Law Clinic to create a short film exploring the amazing work the students do in the city. As part of their academic training they provide free legal services for the public, in all sorts of areas of law - welfare, refugee family reunion, and employment, among others.
They work with partner organisations like the British Red Cross and Improving Lives to support these organisations, and at the same time the students are gaining real hands-on experience in law. It's a brilliant exchange of knowledge and skills, and something I hadn't heard of before. The students' stories of the tough and complex cases they've taken on while still so young was so inspiring, and their maturity and dedication to their assigned cases is really clear.
They're filling a real need in Plymouth for this pro bono legal work, and I'm very glad to be able to help spread awareness of the Clinic with this film. Coming soon!
